Science-backed evidence: Why Yogis Approve

Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga: What’s the difference?

Vinyasa Yoga is a flowing, modern style that emerged in the early 20th century in India, mainly through teachers like Tirumalai Krishnamacharya and his student Krishna Pattabhi Jois. It builds on hatha yoga by linking breath with smooth movements between poses, like a dance, to build strength and mindfulness.

Hatha Yoga started in India around the 10th-11th centuries, created by yogis like Matsyendranath and Gorakhnath in the Nath tradition. It focuses on physical poses (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), and energy control to prepare the body for meditation.

Science-backed evidence: Yoga supports physical and mental health

This scholarly article by the National Library of Medicine provides us with evidence that yoga can be a powerful tool in overcoming mental and physical barriers.

Do you have something you wish to fully release mentally or physically, or are you “proper-and-good-mate”. Personally, I believe yoga has the potential to provide a positive lasting effect towards physical and mental wellbeing. I’ve experienced days, weeks, and months of its rewarding benefits. Only to be humbled by life’s challenges through the natural flow of life. It’s a continual learning circle to remind ourselves that we are imperfectly, perfect.

Benefits: Breath of Fire, and How to Do It

A rhythmic breathing technique involving short, sharp exhales through the nose and passive inhales. Learn more about how the physical benefits of Breath of Fire can support better digestion.

Dr. Hansaji Jayadeva Yogendra, Director of The Yoga Institute and a PhD holder in Complementary Medicine with decades of experience integrating yoga into holistic health practices, demonstrates Breath of Fire (Kapalbhati Pranayama). She explains common mistakes, and describes benefits like detoxification and nervous system calming—which can indirectly support digestion by enhancing overall vitality, and reducing stress-related gut issues. At first its seems humorous, although through my experience it has worked wonders for others.
